Jester's Story
Meet Jester!

100% healthy, handsome, and housebroken, Jester is a five-year-old black Lab who's as sweet as can be. He loves cuddling, belly rubs, and is quick to wag his tail at the sound of your voice. His soulful eyes will melt your heart.

Jester enjoys snacking on carrots and cucumbers, and he goes into his crate like a good boy-though he may whine a bit when left alone. He sleeps all night in his foam bed and is very respectful of boundaries; all you have to do is say, "Jester, go lay down."

He loves taking short walks a few times a day but has a high prey drive, so he'll race after bunnies and squirrels-keep your eyes open and leash tight! He's not a fan of approaching dogs or people on bikes and may react if he feels they're encroaching on his "pack," so whoever is holding the leash needs to be alert and ready to redirect with distractions or circles.

Jester loves most people but should be introduced slowly so he can get to know them first. He has some protective or guarding behaviors around his people, yard, and car. He also tends to gently nudge family members during hugs or hand-holding, which may be a form of guarding or related to past trauma that is not known.

He's had multiple training sessions with a professional trainer that absolutely adores him. Because Jester's unknown history has made him nervous around new people and places, the trainer who worked with him will need to speak with any prospective adopters to ensure it's a good match and to help set everyone up for success.

Jester is very loving, very sweet, and makes a wonderful companion. He loves kisses and head rubs and has a special fondness for stuffies-especially one that looks like Elmo with five squeakers, which we call his baby. Jester is very good about not chewing on things he shouldn't-he leaves shoes, socks, and pillows alone and even spits out inedible things like twigs, rubber, and leaves.

Jester's fosters love and believe in him so much that they took the time to create this slideshow highlighting some of their favorite things about him. Check it out at http://bit.ly/47DeShs.

Jester is neutered, up to date on necessary, age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative, dewormed and microchipped.
