Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took the gooey sweetness of a marshmallow and mixed it with a fluffy little dog? This might sound crazy, but we think that’s what happened when Jerry was created!<br/><br/>Jerry is a 15-pound Pomeranian mix (or possibly American Eskimo mix) with fluffy white coat and a little bit of toasted marshmallow thrown in for extra cuteness. We believe he is between 1-2 years old. Jerry found himself about to become homeless, through no fault of his own, but Wonder Pets Rescue was able to find a foster home for him. In his foster home, he has been marvelous with the resident dogs and cat, as well as delightfully sweet to every person he meets.<br/><br/>Jerry’s favorite things are playing with squeaker toys, going for strolls around the neighborhood to show off his gorgeous white coat, and redecorating the house with clothing or shoes left low enough for him to grab. His sense of humor includes antics such as emptying the toy basket as soon as his toys are picked up, and running around with his foster mom’s slippers, and dancing for joy at dinner time. Jerry is kind to every person he meets, and once he takes a few seconds to get to know them, picks the person who is best at giving him scritches and melts like a gooey marshmallow. We believe he would excel at things like learning how to be a therapy dog or simply being a loving companion for just about anyone. <br/><br/>Jerry is house-trained, after he learns the routines of his new home. Jerry has quickly learned “sit” and “touch” in his foster home, and is kennel trained. He is relatively quiet, and would likely be well-suited to apartment dwelling. He walks well on the leash (unless there is a rabbit, then he simply must try to say hi to it). He does great with other dogs, big and small. He would do best with other kind dogs who are willing to play with him, due to his gentle playful nature and desire to get along with all other dogs around him. He is gentle with the resident cat, playing when she wants to play and leaving her alone when she does not want to be bothered. Jerry has met children and did okay with them, after some getting to know you time. He would do best with respectful children who will give him space and let him get used to them at his own pace. <br/><br/>Jerry has had some issues with dry eye and takes regular over the counter moisturizing eye drops. He has learned to sit wonderfully for these eye drops and enjoys the nice treat he earns. Jerry will need an adopter who is committed to taking care of his gorgeous coat, which includes some gentle brushing and regular grooming appointments. It is not difficult to care for his low-shedding coat but does require some commitment to regular care. Jerry’s diet does need some watching, as he does not tolerate quick changes in food, or quick additions of multiple types of treats.
