Jennie's Story

Jennie got adopted as a 6 mo. old pup, but sadly returned to LCSPCA on 4/25/24 at age 1 year, 9 mo., weighing 70 lbs. The folks were older and said she had too much energy for them. Jennie was house-broken at her last home and is smart, loving, vaccinated and spayed.

Guessed to be a Terrier/Shepherd mix, this beautiful white, brown and black speckled girl with expressive eyes gets along with some dogs, but not all because she loves to rough-house and play pretty hard, which not all pups appreciate. When given attention or a treat by a familiar person, this cutie talks and wiggles with excitement, always following-up with a thank-you kiss. But when adopters come through the kennel isles, Jennie acts wary and barks, which puts them off. Defensive barking is common in shelters. Dogs feel vulnerable, so guard their small space from strangers who might harm them. But it disguises their true nature and adds months or years to their shelter stay. This is particularly sad because outside a shelter cage or with staff she knows, Jennie is affectionate, bubbly, loving, loyal and up for any adventure! She would make someone an amazing companion and be steadfast in her commitment to protect and love whomever rescues her.

LCSPCA hopes someone will visit and take Jennie to the lobby, office or outside for a walk to see how bright and wonderful she is. This girl has been misunderstood and just needs a chance. Call (434) 374-8076 or email lakecountryspca@yahoo.com to adopt. The shelter is open for walk-in adopters Mon-Sat from 12-4pm at 11764 Hwy. 15, Clarksville, VA. Website info is at lakecountryspca.org.
