JENESIS's Story
Dogs like Jenesis (A566252) are the ones who need a different kind of home. Not the kind that falls in love in five minutes at the kennel door. Not the kind that is looking for easy or instant. The kind that understands that some dogs need time, space, and patience before they are ready to show you who they really are. Jenesis is one of those dogs. When she first meets new people or finds herself in unfamiliar environments, she can be nervous and unsure. That uncertainty can come across in her body language, whether it is stiffness, vocalizing, or creating space when she feels overwhelmed. She has also shown some resource guarding with high value items, which is something her future adopter will need to understand and manage. None of this makes her a bad dog. It makes her a dog who needs the right environment to feel safe. When that pressure is taken away and she is given time to decompress, you start to see a different side of Jenesis. In a calmer space, she begins to relax, explore, and approach people gently. She has already shown improvement with patience and positive interactions, which tells us that trust is something she is capable of building. With other dogs, Jenesis has shown that she can coexist and even play when introductions are done thoughtfully. After taking time to assess, she was able to engage in loose, bouncy play and enjoy the company of another dog. A respectful, well matched companion who will not overwhelm her would be the best fit. The reality is that Jenesis is not for everyone. She is looking for: An experienced adopter who understands dog behavior A calm, structured home Slow, intentional introductions to new people and situations Consistency and guidance as she continues to learn For the right person, none of that will feel like a burden. It will feel like an opportunity. The opportunity to take a dog who is unsure of the world and show her that she is safe in it, to build trust step by step, and to watch her grow into the dog she is meant to be. Dogs like Jenesis do not get adopted as quickly. They get overlooked, passed by for the easier choice. That does not mean they are less deserving. It means they are waiting for someone who sees them differently. If you are that person, Jenesis is here. If you are not, please help us share her story. Jenesis is guesstimated to be 1 year old and weighs 40 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative. Ready to meet Jenesis? All you have to do is stop by our shelter at 4950 Triana Blvd and head to our dog areas. You can find her in kennel D5. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID
