Jellybean's Story
Meet Jellybean, a 6- year-old, 6.5 pound long-haired merle Chihuahua being fostered in Weeki Wachee, Florida! Dont let her tiny size fool you—this little girl thinks she can leap tall buildings in a single bound!

Jellybean is very nervous and shy when she first meets you, but once she decides you're safe, she is ALL yours. She needs patience and someone willing to let her come to them on her own terms. If you try to chase her or approach too quickly, she will run and hide. But give her time, and you'll discover an incredibly loving little dog who wants nothing more than to snuggle as close to her person as possible.

When shes not cuddling, Jellybean loves to play! She enjoys fetch, toys, and playtime with her people or other dogs. She gets along great with other dogs, although she does have a little bit of Chihuahua diva in her and may attempt to steal their treats if given the opportunity.

Jellybean came from a very sad situation. Her owner suffered from memory issues and eventually passed away, and Jellybean wasn't consistently let outside. Because of that, she is still working on her house training. She has made wonderful progress and is becoming much more reliable about going outside. She also uses pee pads, which we believe were her primary method of potty training in her previous home.

One very important thing about Jellybean: she does not walk on a leash. She will need a securely fenced yard where she can safely potty and exercise. Putting a leash on her makes her a huge flight risk because she will fight and shake until she can get off that leash.

Jellybean is a serious snuggler and loves sleeping curled up next to her person. Her perfect home will be one where she is welcome in bed and can be close to her family. Someone who works from home or is home much of the day would be ideal to continue her house training, socialization, and confidence-building.

And then there’s her adorable little tongue! That sweet tongue peeking out from the side of her mouth is one of her most recognizable features. She is not missing teeth. Our veterinarian believes her bottom jaw is deformed, likely from an injury when she was very young, leaving her with limited room to keep her tongue completely inside her mouth. It doesnt bother her or slow her down—it simply gives her the most irresistible little smile!

Because Jellybean is nervous when strangers come and go, we are looking for a low-traffic, quiet home without young children. Like a true Chihuahua, she will happily alert you whenever someone is near the house, making her an excellent little watchdog.

Jellybean is smart, funny, energetic, affectionate, and incredibly devoted once she trusts you. She needs someone who will give her the patience and time she deserves—and in return, she will give you a whole lot of love within days!

If you're looking for a tiny companion with a HUGE personality and a one-of-a-kind smile, Jellybean might just be your perfect match!

Adoption $500

All UnderDogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. For consideration for one or more dogs, we require that an on-line application is filled out.

TO ADOPT THIS DOG PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AT https://underdogrescueofflorida.com/. Look

Sorry, we do not adopt outside of Florida. Applicants are subject to a home visit, and veterinary references will be checked. Please include a vet reference (including phone number) when applying online.

Our application process:
FIRST, an application must be approved for adoption from our rescue.
SECOND, we determine whether the dog that has been applied for is a "good match" for the household that wants to adopt him/her. We take into consideration the dog's activity level, compatibility with other members of the household (human and other pets), etc.
If your application has been approved, but the dog you applied for is no longer available, please take the time and look over our adoptable dogs again. We will make every effort to find the right dog for an approved applicant.

We hope you agree and understand that our goal to find the best forever home is our #1 priority!
