Jeep's Story

Jeep is an approximately two year old, 8 pound chihuahua mix currently in foster care in Terlingua, Texas. Jeep is a sweet, initially timid little Chihuahua with the cutest underbite, an adorable snaggle tooth, and a whole lot of love waiting for the right person. Once Jeep decides you are his person, he is incredibly devoted, and he would really prefer to spend as much time as possible right by your side. He’s the kind of dog who will happily appoint himself your shadow, your snuggle buddy, your biggest fan, and your personal little protector.

Jeep is looking for a special human who understands that trust takes time and who will let him build confidence at his own pace. He can be anxious and easily overwhelmed, and when he is frightened or feeling unsure, he may let you know with some big Chihuahua bluster. We are continuing to work with him on feeling safe and managing his emotions.

At this point, Jeep may do best as the one-and-only pet in a calm home where he can be the center of his person's attention. He can become jealous when someone else is receiving attention, so sharing his human with other pets isn't his favorite thing. With patience and gentle encouragement, Jeep is beginning to feel comfortable and understand that he's okay. Once he settles in, his happy little personality really starts to shine. He loves pets, snuggles, kisses, and, most importantly, being with his person.

Thank you for considering an OTAT-WTX rescue! All pets are living in foster homes, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on core vaccines.

If you are interested in adopting, or for more information, please visit our website: https://otatwtx.org/adopt
