Jazmine's Story
Jazmine is a 4-year-old, 50-pound Shepherd/Retriever mix with a beautiful presence and a sensitive, thoughtful nature. Earlier in her life, she experienced instability, including time spent living on a chain before coming to the animal shelter. Two years ago, Jazmine was adopted and lived successfully in a home until recently returning to us through no fault of her own due to her adopter experiencing health issues that made continuing care impossible.

Because of her past, Jazmine can be a bit hard to read at first. When she feels unsure, she becomes very quiet and reserved rather than reactive. She also has a unique, lippy “toothy grin” that can sometimes be mistaken for a snarl, but it is simply part of how she communicates. With patience and calm reassurance, Jazmine relaxes and begins to show her loyal, affectionate side.

Jazmine is housebroken and has kept her kennel clean since returning to the shelter. She does well with cats and has previously lived with them. She is selective with her dog friends and would do best with careful introductions and a compatible canine companion, or as the only dog in the home. An adult-only home, or one with older, dog-savvy children and calm adult dogs, may be the best fit for her comfort and success.

Jazmine is looking for a calm, understanding home where trust is allowed to build at her pace. She has already shown how resilient she can be, and for the right person, she will be a deeply devoted companion.

Jazmine is spayed, microchipped and is current on all vaccines including rabies. She has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
