We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.<br/><br/>*You must be approved to adopt him before we will schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.<br/><br/>*AGE: 3 ½ years old (born April 2022)<br/><br/>*WEIGHT: 72 lbs.<br/><br/>*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed. He loves having a big yard to run and play in and the freedom a large fenced yard provides him.<br/><br/>*COAT TYPE: wavy/straight shedding coat similar to a Lab. His coat won’t require frequent grooming. He may need to be groomed every 3-4 months. <br/><br/>*ENERGY LEVEL: moderate – he has a medium amount of energy and can also be quite calm. He likes to play, get attention and to be entertained. He is a very smart dog and intelligent dogs need to stay stimulated in order to maintain good behavior. He would love to get as much exercise as his little heart desires!<br/><br/>*DOGS: He gets along great with other dogs as long as they are kind to him. The foster family has a 10 lb poodle mix and they love to play with each other. Jasper has learned to be very gentle with my small dog. He would love to have a fun playful dog to interact with and play with in his new home but this isn’t a requirement if his new family ensures he gets exercise and frequent interaction. <br/><br/>*CATS: unknown; we think he would be fine with a cat. <br/><br/>*KIDS: Yes! He absolutely loves them! My neighbor’s toddler comes into our backyard with him and he does not bother him at all. <br/><br/>*CAR: Perfect. He will lay down and ride. He does not get car sick and will just relax. <br/><br/>*CRATE: He does great with the crate. If you tell him to “go home” he understands that this means to get in the crate. He will go into his crate on his own sometimes. He is crated when his foster family is at work during the day and he sleeps in the crate at night; it provides him a sense of security and structure. He would much prefer to spend time with his family during the day and not be crated and would love a family where someone is home to engage and exercise with him.<br/><br/>*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes 100%!<br/><br/>*LEASH: He loves his leash because he associates this with walks and loves to go for walks; he will pull hard at times, especially when he sees another dog. He needs continued work with walking on a leash. A Gentle Lead head halter may work well for him.<br/><br/>*AT THE VET: Great, but he is not a fan. <br/> <br/>*WITH GROOMING: Great!<br/><br/>Jasper is a gorgeous male 3 ½ year old Labradoodle who weighs 72 lbs. He is tall and lean and is the sweetest boy ever. He was surrendered to IDOG by his family who loved him dearly. A family member was having health issues and they weren’t able to give Jasper attention or exercise and he was spending too much time in the crate. They decided it was best for Jasper to find another home where he would get attention and exercise and not be crated all day.<br/><br/>Here is what Jasper’s foster family has to say about him:<br/><br/>Jasper is very, very sweet, loving and lovable guy and loves to cuddle. He thinks he is a lap dog (at 72 lbs!). He would cuddle with you all day if you would let him. He loves to go for walks and just loves life! He is one of the most intelligent dogs I have ever had! The sky's the limit for this Dood! <br/><br/>Jasper loves our dog and loves to play with him. Our neighbor’s miniature poodle will come into the yard and play with Jasper and they have a great time. Jasper is a very, very sweet boy and would do best with someone who will have him around most of the time and not overuse the crate. He will do best with someone who will take him on daily walks and can provide him with a quiet, calm home. <br/><br/>Jasper has some allergies. Per previous owner, he is not able to be around any enzymatic cleaners such as Nature’s Miracle as he is allergic to them. He has some food allergies and does very well eating Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. He has a shedding coat (similar to a Lab) and his coat will likely not be best for people with allergies to dog hair.<br/><br/>His dream home includes:<br/>-A fenced yard for running and playing and exploring<br/>-A family committed to regular exercise<br/>-A playful doggy playmate to romp around with in the yard and/or an active human that takes him on walks or plays fetch with him with good snuggles.<br/><br/>Adjectives that describe Jasper:<br/>*Very gentle<br/>*Loving<br/>*Lovable<br/>*Very smart<br/>*Very Sweet<br/>*Playful<br/>*Confident<br/>Snuggly<br/>*72 lb. Lap dog<br/>*Submissive<br/>*Affectionate<br/><br/>Activities that Jasper enjoys:<br/>--Playing with dogs<br/>--Meeting new people he does well with meeting new people, especially children and women. He loves children. He does fine with men too, but may need to warm up to new men that come around. <br/>--Cuddling<br/>--Running in the yard<br/>--Walking<br/>--Running<br/>--Fetch (he won’t bring it back though – hahaha)<br/>--Hiking<br/>--Chew toys<br/>--Squeaky toys<br/><br/>A ‘needs work’ item for Jasper:<br/>--he needs some work walking on leash as he pulls hard. We think a Gentle Lead head halter may be ideal for him.<br/><br/>Jasper is neutered, microchipped, and current on core vaccines. His fecal and heartworm tests were negative and he is on heartworm/flea/tick preventives.<br/><br/>ADOPTION FEE: $450 adoption fee<br/><br/>ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:<br/>Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses.
