I’m on the larger side at a very solid 65 pounds. I love car rides to the dog park and in general road tripping. We recently visited Wyoming and I did great traveling for 8 hours in the car. I do like to be outside, but I am also quite the couch potato. I’m just a really big, soft, and sweet boy who loves belly rubs and chin scratches. I am looking for a loving home to bring me the rest of the way back from a rough start. You see I came to PRO from a shelter in Kentucky. I lived down there as a stray during the time of the flooding and heavy storms from a hurricane. Because of this, storms make me very anxious. I take a calming supplement to help with that. We have determined I have situational anxiety due to lack of early socialization. I can be timid but have shown an increasing ability to bounce back. There are still a lot of noises that frighten me because everything is new to me. Because of this the ideal home would be in a more rural setting. I do well with all other dogs and have been cat tested as well, I passed! Another confident, friendly dog or 2 would be a plus. I trust my foster dad but it has taken some time for me to do so. My first handlers in rescue were female and I was very responsive to their kind and gentle handling, I would thrive best in a home that also provided this for me. I have recall, but it is selective. I am not a candidate for e-collar training at this time as it makes me regress. Going forward I will need someone willing to work on alternative methods such as long lead. <br/><br/>From Foster Dad: <br/><br/>Jasper is a wonderful boy and will make someone with love and patience a great companion. He will need some time to adjust but I have seen glimpses of an exuberant, playful, happy dog that I know he is. He can be selective about the dogs he plays with, but tolerates all dogs, male and female,and has successfully lived with both. He has so much to add to the right home. Could that home be you?
