Some dogs arrive in rescue simply asking for a chance to know what life is supposed to be like. Jasper is one of those dogs.<br/><br/>Jasper is a 7-year-old hound mix, about 50 pounds, currently in foster care with one of our rescue partners. For most of his life, his world was extremely small. He was found after animal welfare authorities intervened when it was discovered he had been permanently chained outside.<br/><br/>That chapter is behind him now — but it left its mark. Jasper carries a permanent scar around his neck from that chain, a reminder of where he came from. <br/><br/>What it hasn’t touched is who he is. Jasper today is calm, steady, and quietly resilient in a way that’s hard to miss once you meet him.<br/><br/>Jasper is settling into a very different life now: cozy beds, regular meals, and the simple freedom to just exist without pressure. And honestly, he’s taking to it beautifully. He has a relaxed, easygoing personality with a definite “no need to rush anywhere” energy.<br/><br/>He’s good with other dogs, and has been relaxed around young children he’s met.<br/><br/>Jasper's ideal home is one that is calm, peaceful and loving. He relishes consistency and kindness. A comfy couch would be great, too.
