Jasper's Story

Jasper came in with a snout full of porcupine quills! They were removed that night. (On christmas Eve, 2023) Jasper is approximately 4 years old, and a little timid at first, but if you have some food, and willing to give some hugs, belly rubs or neck scratches he will become your best friend! He's a perfect, medium size weighing in at 55 pounds with a shiny black coat and he loves cuddles - so he'd make a great lap dog if you let him. He'd have to be invited up on the couch though as he appears to have some good manners. With a little practice, he'll be a pro at anything he needs to learn. He doesn't jump up on you, so kids would be okay with this guy. He gets along with other dogs if properly introduced, but does not like cats. He loves to go on walks and he's been really good on a leash, walking sedately on the side or slightly ahead. He likes to throw around a stuffed toy and play around with another dog, when given the chance! He is a lovable guy, and very food motivated so additional training should be a piece of cake. He was adopted for a while (over a year) then returned due to his owner changing jobs (previously he could bring him to work) and Jasper developing separation anxiety, and not liking being crated. Separation anxiety is developed due to humans unfortunately, and it is easily trainable if kept consistent. His ears are a huge plus as he listens well. He knows sit, shake, come and is well acquainted to his name. He is the most gentle boy about taking treats, and even does not want to lick food off of a plate until it’s on the ground. He has a great foundation, he just needs someone willing to work with some separation anxiety.

If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application. Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together!
All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. If you have a dog currently, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts. Please visit our website for additional information.
