Janet's Story
Special foster or adopter needed to help Janet blossom.

BASICS:
– Female
– 11 months old (DOB 1/28/2025)
– 60ish pounds
– Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped
– Potty trained
-- Dog friendly
-- Very very shy and timid at first, needs to build confidence
-- LOVES WATER, believes she is a fish
– Sponsored adoption fee

PERSONALITY: Janet is so incredibly loving, sweet, cuddley, snuggley, loyal once she trusts you. She loves hard – she just needs time, patience, and understanding to build trust. Extremely shy and skittish at first or anywhere out of her comfort zone currently, but absolutely zero aggression. She just simply lacks confidence and does not know how to navigate the world independently without her sibling (see backstory). She will be ***flight risk***.

FAVORITE THINGS: Water, playing with other dogs, her trusted people. She is obsessed with water and has been since she could walk. Kiddie pools, buckets, water bowls: she does not discriminate. If she can fit any part of her body in it – she will!

DOGS: Janet does great with other dogs and would really benefit from having another confident dog in the home.

CATS: Janet has had a couple brief cat experiences that went just fine. She was more scared of them than anything (like everything else). Brief intros do not say how a dog will do living with cats, but based on those intros and her personality in general, we do not see her having an issue with cats. Only physically living with them over time can truly tell though.

KIDS: Young kids make a lot of busy fast movements, which is not a match for Janet currently

TRAINING: Potty trained. She has only been crated a few times, but in those times, she has done great and slept peacefully throughout the night without making a peep.

BACKSTORY: Janet was born in our care after we rescued her mama pregnant. Unfortunately, due to no interest, she stayed with a sibling far longer than she should have and developed littermate syndrome. When the last sister left, Janet’s confidence plummeted. She is making progress, but really needs to be in a foster/adopter home where she can receive more one on one attention and be more integrated into a home. That is the critical component to Janet’s growth that she is missing.

AVAILABILITY: Available for foster, foster-to-adopt (FTA), or adoption. FTA is a two week commitment-free and pressure-free trial run to make sure things are a match before sealing the deal. Janet would benefit immensely from even just finding a foster to work with her more, help her confidence grow and realize the world is not so scary outside of her small bubble.

LOCATION: Currently located in Jackson, GA. We do a home visit with all fosters/adopters, so no need to travel, we come to you anywhere within 2 hours of Jackson, GA!

ADOPTION FEE: $0. Janet’s adoption fee has been sponsored/covered for an approved adopter, thanks to a very kind person cheering her on and hoping to help her along my way.

APPLY HERE TO ADOPT OR FTA: joyspromise.org/adopt

APPLY HERE TO FOSTER: joyspromise.org/foster

–

Note: If you are interested in adopting, please COMPLETE AN APPLICATION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE.
