Jamie's Story
Jamie is the sweetest boy! He is a vocal boy, but isn't as independent and heedless as most huskies. He loves to run, though, so shouldn't be off-leash outside of a fenced yard.

Jamie's guesstimated birthday is Oct. 2024. He was turned in to Forsyth Animal Control as a stray in Winston-Salem and seemed to have been hit by a car. Their vet determined his right front leg couldn't be saved so amputated it on Nov. 4, 2025.

We have an experienced medical foster who was willing to take Jamie during his recuperation and our vet determined he has fully recovered and is ready for a new family.

Jamie loves to explore and make new human and dog friends. He wants to say hi to everyone he meets and loves to get pets (especially belly rubs)! Even though he has 3 legs, this goofball loves adventures, playing with his friends, running around in the snow, walks, and hikes! He is also a big fan of toys!

In Dec., Jamie moved to a foster with a pack of balanced dogs to work on his social skills. He is learning to play with all the young dogs and ignore the grumpy ones. He has some resource guarding - understandable when a dog is a stray and has an insecure food source - but will take treats calmly in the pack. He eats in his crate to reinforce food security.

Jamie has met the cats in his foster home and would like to play chase-the-cat. He'll poke and bark at the dog-savvy ones, to try to incite a run, but isn't being hurtful. He should be supervised if his new family has cats to make sure they are comfortable, and crated when no one is in the room.

Jamie pulls strongly, but when double-leashed - prong collar with leash and flat collar with leash - he rarely needs his handler to touch the prong leash. Car rides are a particular delight and he'll ride in the back without critiquing the driver - for the most part :)

**************************************************
IF YOU ARE USING PET FINDER:
Please go to our website, foothillscaninerescue.org
Choose Adopt/Adopt a Dog and find the dog you are interested in
Click "Apply for Adoption" button to fill out an application

ALL ADOPTERS:
When adopting an intact dog or puppy, a refundable $75.00 spay/neuter deposit is required. The Adoption Counselor will explain this at the time of adoption.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed. If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, heart worm (HW) test, HW prevention, and deworming if recommended by our vet.

Puppies will have two vaccinations, deworming, and heart worm prevention if age-appropriate. An additional fee for the 3rd puppy vaccination and rabies vaccination, if administered, will be added to the adoption fee.

Foster dogs are shown on a rotating schedule at our Saturday Adoption Events which occur several times a month at Waggin' Tail Resale store located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd, Lenoir. Additionally, Meet & Greets can be scheduled with a specific dog on Saturdays (11am-3pm) in our Adoption Center at Waggin' Tail Resale. Additional times for Meet & Greets may be scheduled depending on the schedules of Adoption Counselors and Foster Parents.
Shelter Dogs can be seen at the Bunch Anderson Shelter (BAS) on Saturdays from 12pm-3:30pm, or by appointment. To request an appointment, e-mail: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We will respond within 24-48 hours M-F.
(BAS is also located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd)
