Jake - Fostered in Omaha's Story
Meet Jake – A Loyal, Loving Hound Ready for a Second Chance

This handsome guy is Jake, a 5-year-old hound mix weighing in at about 55 pounds. He's house trained, up to date on his shots, and knows all the important stuff like sit, down, and kennel—especially if there's a treat involved! One rustle of the snack bag, and Jake's already sitting in his kennel like the good boy he is.

Jake was originally adopted through BBRH four years ago. Sadly, his adoptive family has recently gone through some very tough times and made the selfless decision to return him so he could find the loving, stable home he truly deserves.

Jake's Personality:
Jake is a total lovebug once he knows you. He's a world-class cuddler who wants nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch with his head in your lap. At night? He's already made himself at home on the bed.

Jake can be anxious with strangers and tends to bark when nervous, especially around men. He's more comfortable with women and tends to warm up faster with them. With time, patience, and routine, he may grow more confident with men too. He needs a home that understands his need to feel safe and not pushed too quickly.

What He Loves:

Squeaky balls (his favorite!)
Tasty treats and food puzzles
Quiet companionship and snuggles on the couch
Talking in low grumbles and soft whines to tell you he wants love
Other dogs – he gets along well with canine pals
A calm, gentle environment where he can thrive

Things to Know:

May be reactive if cornered or startled by strangers
Not yet tested with cats
Walks nicely on leash
Crate trained and food motivated
Needs a patient, understanding adopter willing to let him decompress and earn his trust

Jake is:

Neutered, Vaccinated, Microchipped, Heartworm negative and on preventative

Adoption Fee: $300
Apply to adopt Jake at www.bassetandbeagle.org

Jake may need a little time to settle in, but once he does, you'll discover a deeply loyal and affectionate companion who just wants to be close to his people. If you're ready to open your heart to this sweet, soulful hound, Jake is ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and a few soft grumbles.
