Jake's Story
Jake is around 5 years old. He was found as a stray dog in the city of Haskell and he was rescued the same day he was supposed to be euthanized. He is a very affectionate and loving dog with a stubborn and protective nature. His perfect home has a single owner and no other pets because he can be protective and territorial. He needs an experienced dog owner and preferably one who has experience with protective breeds like mastifs or Cane Corsos. He is great on a leash and loves to take walks. Even though he is protective he does fine in public spaces as long as you leave safe spaces between him and other pets. He is healthy and strong weighing in around 65 pounds and he loves to cuddle and spoon. He has bouts of wild energy but for the most part he is relaxed and enjoys laying on beds and couches, playing with toys and chewing nylabones. Even though hs is pretty athletic he doesn't try to jump a four foot fence, and he is house broken and can be crated. Introducing him to new people takes a specific protocol, but don't worry if you don't have time for the protocol- just put him in a "safe space, such as a crate or any designated room with a closed door or babygate and he will be fine. There are more details to managing him but he is currently cared for by a team of 8 plus individuals who love him very much and can help you learn to manage his quirks while you bask in his love.
