Meet Jacob--In Foster

When I first heard about Jacob, I felt drawn to fostering him. I mean look at him, he's a big boy, a graying face and he's got big gum ball eyes that melt your heart when you look into them. He has the cutest butt wiggles with his cropped tail. He's settled in quickly to our routine and is an easy dog. He doesn't mind kenneling, always runs in when it's time to kennel and waits for us to shut the door. When he first came to the house, he marked on the couch and pooped, but I contribute that to him being moved from his prior living arrangement, to the shelter, and to my house. He has not had any accidents since. Jacob does well unsupervised in the house, and he's broken his habit of counter surfing. After a few weeks of adjusting, I learned that he loves tennis balls and plush squeaky toys. He is selective on what ones get to live and what ones he destroys to get to the squeaker. Jacob sleeps in his kennel most nights, but has slept in the living room with no issues. His ultimate sleeping spot is in a bed with a human. He has no personal space and his favorite cuddle position is spooning. Specifically little spoon and facing you. I have been working on his obedience, recall, and walking on a leash as these were subpar when he first came to us. I have learned that he is a flight risk, if given the chance. Jacob has been great with our dogs (big and little), he loves to sit in laps if given the opportunity, and he is good with kids. Despite being 12 years old, he's full of energy and affection. The only thing giving away his age is his graying face and his limping after long walks/playing. He loves to sunbathe and is content just hanging out in the yard watching people walk by. He is always up for walks and loves to go rollerblading as he is able to run as fast as he can. Jacob is by far one of my top 5 favorite dogs that I gotten to foster

It is important to mention that Jacob is not fond of crowded places or having his paws touched. Jacob would thrive in a calm, loving home, so if you're seeking an easygoing senior dog, Jacob could be the perfect match for you.
