It broke her heart to surrender him. He is a 3 year old Maltese who is house and crate trained, good with kids of all ages, likes other dogs, and willing to ignore cats. He walks nicely on leash and we're told enjoys a car ride. <br/><br/>He would like to be a lap dog, but he'll settle for sitting at your feet. Due to his longer coat he will need regular grooming but he is a perfect gentleman for that and vet visits. <br/><br/>We're told he loves toys like rubber bones and his favorite treat is chicken breast. When you leave a room he sits near the door and waits for you to return. <br/><br/>We'd really like to find an adipter or foster for him as soon as possible because he is having a hard time adjusting to being at the shelter. <br/><br/><br/>**In Order to adopt an unspayed/unneutered dog from HSMC, You must live within an hour of the shelter. You will initially "Foster to Adopt" the dog and then the adoption will be finalized when they are brought back for their spay/neuter surgery. You will need to bring the dog back for vaccines and exams prior to their spay/neuter surgery**<br/><br/>Our adoption fees vary, Shelter Dogs are $180, Prison Dogs are $250, Puppies are $300, and Popular Pure-Breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again Microchip, set of shots, de-worming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a 1 year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $21, this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be done using credit card or cash.
