Jackie's Story

AN INQUIRY FROM PETFINDER IS NOT AN APPLICATION! READ THE ENTIRE POST FOR INFORMATION HOW TO APPLY.

Meet Jackie! Jackie is a 5-7 year old female Chinese Crested Powderpuff and she weighs about 10 pounds. Jackie arrived in rescue from a home with too many pups that could not properly care for her. She has settled into foster care and her foster mom says: She came to us very scared of people. She is improving with her foster mom, but in a new environment it may take weeks for her to learn to trust you. With patience and attention, she should get better. She lives for treats and may come and sit beside you if you carry some in your pockets. She does love to be petted once she is comfortable with you. However, sudden movements will scare her. When she is scared, she will take off without looking where she's going so an inground pool area is not safe for her. She also will do best in a home with no children, not a lot of people coming and going, someone who is home more than gone and a very secured fenced yard. She is very much like a puppy and loves to run and play with toys. She listens well if you speak to her when you really want her attention. She is as fast a greyhound, so a secured fenced yard is what she needs right now. She is house broken; she just may need time to know where she's expected to go. She is learning to walk on a leash but with a secure harness is best, she's still a bit timid, so practice the leash walking in the fenced yard. She is mostly quiet, not a big barker. She does sleep through the night. She loves her foster fur brother so another dog should be fine. If you are up to the challenge and are willing to give her 4 to 6 weeks of love and patience she will come around. She knows there is the right person out there for her.

Jackie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped and has had her teeth cleaned.

Jackie is fostered in the Orlando area and her adoption donation is $450. If you are interested in applying to adopt Jackie, please visit www.floridalittledogrescue.com to read the adoption process and complete an application! Please note that emails simply asking "Is this dog available" will not be returned, as applications are worked in the order received and availability largely depends on when you apply:) Please also know we do not adopt out of state! Thank you!
