Jack (Foster-to-Adopt)'s Story
Jack is available for Foster to Adopt!

We'd love to welcome Jack into the Fetch + Releash family on March 28th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, he needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take him home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack / Neutered Male / 1 year old / 42 lbs / Hound-Lab Mix / From Mexico
Jack is a calm, thoughtful young dog who is still learning that the world can be a safe and friendly place. Rescued as the lone surviving puppy from a field behind a gas station, Jack has spent his life growing up at the sanctuary and is now ready to discover what it means to have a family of his own.
Described by his caregivers as gentle, affectionate, and a little bit shy, Jack takes a moment to warm up to new people and experiences. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality shines through. He loves a good cuddle and will immediately roll onto his back if he suspects a belly rub might be coming. He also has an impressive talent for staring contests. Fair warning, you will blink before Jack does.
Jack walks nicely on leash and has a low energy level. He enjoys quiet exploration and relaxed time with his people. He is not crate trained and his house training is still a work in progress, but he is a thoughtful dog who will do well with patient guidance and routine.
Jack is the son of Mama Sadie (brought to Canada in July 2025), who was rescued with him from the same field behind a gas station. He was the only puppy who survived. Despite his difficult start, Jack has grown into a kind, gentle dog who simply needs the chance to build confidence and experience life beyond the sanctuary.
Jack would thrive with a family who will let him explore the world at his own pace while providing structure, patience, and love. A yard to run in would be ideal as he continues learning that life can be full of good things.
If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at
https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form
Jack’s adoption fee is $850.
