Jack's Story

Name:Jack
Age: 4 Years
Breed: ACD Mix
Gender: Male
Weight: 39.7Ibs

Meet Jack

He was one of the 11 dogs rescued from the swamps, arriving at the shelter absolutely terrified of the world around him. Every sound, every movement, every person was overwhelming. It wasn't aggression—it was fear. He simply didn't know that people could be kind.

Today, Jack is a completely different dog.

He still isn't very fond of fast movements, or coming straight at him. But what he has learned is that our slow pets are actually quite wonderful, and has even offered coming up to us to receive more. He's met two of our experienced volunteers did wonderful with both, showing he's learning to trust others and not just our staff.

The little victories that many dogs take for granted are monumental for Jack. He now allows us to leash him up, happily enjoys whipped cream, has learned to sit, and is even mastering waiting patiently and sitting before walking through doorways. Every single accomplishment has been built on trust, patience, and letting Jack move at his own pace.

While Jack has made incredible progress, he's still looking for a home that understands his journey isn't over. He'll need an experienced adopter who can continue building his confidence with patience, consistency, and kindness. We do believe right now he wouldn't fit best in a home with children or other dogs, but possibly down the road once he's more socialized. In return, we truly believe Jack will become one of the most loyal companions someone could ever ask for. Once you've earned his trust, you've earned his whole heart.

We couldn't be prouder of how far Jack has come. Watching him realize that the world isn't as scary as he once believed has been one of the greatest rewards. Now all that's missing is the person willing to give him the forever home he has worked so hard to be ready for.

If you have the patience to let Jack continue writing his story, we think you'll discover an incredible best friend waiting beneath all that bravery

Sponsor his $125 neuter here: https://client.pointandpay.net/web/WayneCoDogShelterOH/

If you are interested, please fill out a questionnaire here & call 330-345-1018 after completed: https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-questionnaire
