IZAR's Story

Izar is approximately 13 weeks old and currently weighs 10 lbs 8 oz. He’s definitely on the smaller side, and we’re guessing he may be a dachshund/chihuahua mix. Small body, big personality! Izar came to us with a broken jaw, and thanks to the incredible care and support of East Coast Canine, who fully covered the cost of his medical treatment, he has been able to heal and thrive. His jaw is healing beautifully, and he has officially transitioned to dry puppy kibble for puppies his size. He handled the weaning process like a champ with no digestive issues at all—such a resilient little guy!Bath time (or “tubby time,” as we like to call it) happens every couple of weeks, and Izar actually enjoys it. His feet and hind legs can be a bit sensitive, so we’re gentle when washing him. His coat is silky smooth, and he absolutely loves cuddles just as much as he loves giving them.
Izar is a friendly little guy. He has occasionally shown a soft growl when being held while others approach, and we are actively working through this with positive handling and reassurance. He continues to make progress every day.
Potty training is going really well! Izar uses puppy pads and improves more and more as time goes on. Since he’s a big water fan, we’ve learned that limiting overnight water and keeping his pads dry helps a lot—he doesn’t like stepping on wet pads (can you blame him?).

Izar does great with other dogs, both big and small, and has never shown any aggression toward our cat. He loves kids, but for safety reasons, children are not allowed to hold him while standing. This helps prevent any falls that could risk reinjuring his jaw. For the same reason, Izar isn’t allowed on furniture unattended and doesn’t have hard toys or bones.

When it comes to playtime, Izar is a blast! He loves playing fetch with his stuffed toys and is already learning commands like “sit” and “give paw.” He has adjusted wonderfully in our home, and we’re confident he’ll do just as well in his forever home.

✠̈ Start the New Year with your new best friend—Izar (aka Chops)! ✠̈
