Itsy's Story

SPECIAL FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME NEEDED!

Meet Itsy! She loves snacks, cats, kids, and sunning herself outside! She is great with calm dogs and loves to cuddle her person!

We don’t know much about Itsy’s history, but something traumatic must have happened to this pup. She is terrified of everything! She cowers at new people, fast movement, loud noises, being picked up, and even walking on the leash. Even though she is terrified, she NEVER lashes out. It breaks our hearts to see her shaking in fear with those beautiful eyes.

AHF has had her for a week, and that shining personality is coming through. She has the heart of a puppy and just wants to be loved. She needs a home she can call her own; one that gives her time to feel safe and won't push her.

We would love to find a foster or FTA for Itsy that has:
A fenced-in yard with no possible escape points.
A calm, chill dog that she can play with. (Not required, but can help her gain that confidence.)
A family that understands that she needs to work at her own pace. It will take time and patience to gain her trust.
Itsy is working on potty training, so she needs to go out often. Due to her fear, her new home will have to set a schedule to ensure she feels safe in her new environment. Lots of positive reinforcement and patience are required for this part.
She is extra fearful around men. We would love for her to find a home that understands that fear and helps rebuild her trust in men.
She needs a crate or safe space to call her own. AHF can provide one for fosters.

The good news about Itsy:
She loves to sleep on a bed or snuggle on a couch with you!
Once she is potty trained, she will not require crating when you leave the house! She is very well-behaved.
She loves to sun herself outside, so as she starts to trust your yard and get used to her new home, she can hang out and relax in the sun!
She loves to play "chase" outside with her person. She loves to run and play!

For the time being, there will be no walks for Itsy. Until we can ensure she is not a flight risk, it is safer for her to be in a yard for all outside time. We are not going to send her to adoption shows until she is confident on a leash.

Itsy is one of the most scared dogs we have seen in a while. You can see her love and personality come through in glimmering moments throughout the day. Could you be the person to show her that life isn’t scary, and that people are safe and loving?

Adoption fee is $360
Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.org
