Isis's Story

Personality
Isis is a sweet and gentle natured dog. She is always up for a walk and loves to run too, but she is just as happy lounging around. She would make a great running partner, agility partner (Isis is very spry for a dog of her build), or a cuddle up on the couch partner. She is a lovely, sensitive girl who needs a gentle, stable home. In March of 2008, Isis had a tumor removed, and as a result she has an 8 inch vertical scar on her left side, that everyone says makes her look especially cool! She has been in great health ever since- she really has a lot of heart, she’s truly a survivor. Her surgery didn’t phase her a bit. She has a wonderful attitude. Isis is powerfully built- short and stocky, and has a great bulldog stance. A real proud girl.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Socialization
Does the dog like other pets?
Isis currently lives with a large male dog and gets along beautifully. There are many dogs that she gets along with, but there are also some that she does not like. Another dog in her life would be beneficial, but she would also adapt well to being an only dog. If you have a stable, well socialized dog, there’s a good chance she will do fine with him. If this is your situation we will evaluate each potential household on a case by case basis and help with a careful introduction to any other dogs. Isis does not care about neighborhood dogs on the other side of the fence- she’s not a fence fighter. No cats or small animals, please.

Does the dog like children?
Isis loves people. She loves to mix and mingle. She has been around children of all ages, but sometimes she can be over zealous and might knock a small child over. We recommend that she not live with small children, but she would be okay with older calm children. But she can have visitors of all ages, and can greet small children when out and about with supervision.

General social placement notes:
Isis will get stressed in a high activity, noisy environment. She needs a calm, stable household and a place to go and relax when she feels the need. She is crate trained and likes to spend time in her crate. She is most at ease with a gentle, and calm leader in her life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Favorite Toys:
One of her favorite things to do is de-stuff toys! She likes to run around and learn new things. Isis is very well-behaved in the ABRT classrooms. She has plenty of energy when the situation calls for it, but she’s also happy to relax with a treat or a bone while the rest of the household goes about its business. She’s always up for a car ride, too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forever Home:
Isis had a rough start, so a loving, gentle home is a must. She likes to snuggle up to people. She will hit the floor if you raise your voice, but she responds very well to positive reinforcement. Isis would do best in a low stress home, but one that can keep her active and exercised, too. She would love a household that brought her along on walks or hikes, took her through agility training, or just continued working and learning in other advanced classes. There is always a smile on Isis’s face. She is very smart and loves to show you what she knows. Anyone who spends any time with Isis becomes very fond of her.
