Isidro's Story
Meet Isidro!

Isidro is a 1–2 year old, 10-pound male deer-head Chihuahua mix from Tijuana, Mexico. He is affectionate, gentle, and very people-oriented.

Isidro has adjusted well to life in a home environment and bonds quickly with the people around him. His favorite activity is being close to his humans. He loves cuddling, curling into your neck, and burrowing under blankets at night. Snuggling up to sleep is clearly one of his favorite things. He still has some puppy energy and enjoys playtime, especially with small chew toys.

Isidro is doing well with house training and is learning quickly. He has started used wee-wee pads consistently and is increasingly going outside. Like all dogs, he will benefit from a regular routine and continued reinforcement as he continues to learn.

On leash, Isidro is still building confidence but is doing well. When he encounters other dogs outside, he can be a little cautious at first, approaching slowly and somewhat skeptically, but he has generally been friendly.

Isidro forms strong attachments to his people and does experience separation anxiety. He is not comfortable being left alone and becomes distressed when separated from his people. Because of this, he would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time and able to keep him close throughout the day. He is a small, portable dog who can be carried or included in daily activities, so he joins for school pickup, coffee shop, and other daily activities.

He has done well with another dog in his foster home and coexists comfortably. He has also been affectionate and gentle with the child in the home, happily giving and receiving playful attention.

Health-wise, Isidro is doing well overall. When he first arrived he had kennel cough, which he is recovering from. He also has a mild cherry eye. It was more swollen and irritated when he first arrived, but it has improved and does not seem to bother him. One eye may appear slightly smaller than the other, but it has not affected his comfort or behavior.

Isidro is looking for a home where he can be close to his people and included in daily life. A household that is home often and happy to offer lots of affection will find him to be an extremely loving and devoted companion. He is truly a little love.

Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.

To apply to adopt Isidro, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal.
