COUCH POTATOES PLEASE SWIPE LEFT<br/><br/>OK Now that we have the more sedate and leisurely dog lovers on their way, let's talk about Irish. <br/><br/>She showed up on a rural horse property, with her chain wrapped around a piece of their irrigation equipment. We are not sure if a human fastened it or if she just got it tangled up but either way, there she was. She had with her a beautiful pup that we assume was hers and later, would find out that two more identical looking pups, were found just a half mile down the road. <br/><br/>Irish loves people, attention and learning. The trainers we have had, work with her are impressed with her intelligence and quick learning abilities. She is currently living in a foster home where there are horses and other dogs and she does well with them but has been living in her foster's beautiful barn, with her pup, due to aggression issues from one of the resident dogs. Do not worry about her living conditions. This barn is nicer than many homes we visit.<br/><br/>Of course it must be stated, and none to subtly, that for Irish to be successful in a home living situation, she will need activity. If you know about these two breeds, you know they are not for the lazy or the uncommitted. We can see Irish making a fabulous trail riding partner, running partner, Search and Rescue K9, or any type of K9 work where a solid and loyal partnership is required. She would also excel at gaming trials, like agility, fly ball, dock diving (loves water), disc catching and will give her heart to everything asked of her.<br/><br/>We also really love Irish's size. Our vets aged her at between 18-24 months old so she is nearly full grown and weighs in at just 45lbs so will not require a great deal of space in your vehicle or home. She will need a human that is consistent, committed, firm and able to stay the one in charge. While we are sure she would be more than happy to take over your home, we are also pretty sure you would not enjoy her decorating style.<br/><br/>Irish is crate trained, was a very good girl at all her vet visits where she won the hearts of those staff members who love these intense breed types. Nothing escapes her and she is forward and curious in all new situations. <br/><br/>There are no cats where she is living now and all the chickens were sold, so we cannot say how she would do with either but an educated guess would be, they would be very fun to chase. She has also not been around small children (toddlers, infants) but would most likely love having some older kids to play with (10 and up) When in her stall in the barn, she keeps it clean. No pottying (too bas she can't teach this to the horses) so in a home situation, if she is not already, should housebreak easily. Her leash manners are a work in progress but improving. She is always quite excited when first leashed up but after a warm up, falls into place.<br/><br/>She also is a good traveler.<br/><br/>So if you like your dogs stunning, smart, energetic, happy, eager, curious, enthusiastic, social, medium sized and ready for adventure at a moments notice, we sure do hope you give Irish a chance.<br/><br/>To meet her, please go to our website at www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org/adoption and fill out the application.
