Meet Iris

Meet Iris! Iris is a sweet female husky mix estimated at 10 months. While she was a little slow to attach the first couple days, she then quickly became loyal and loving. She loves to go on walks and play fetch. She’s great with our other dogs and would love to have another dog to play with in her forever home. Iris loves to be outside and is extremely content running around and playing in our yard. Her favorite spot to rest is on our deck in the sun.

While being with us Iris has become more confident and comfortable in the house. With her human support she has learned to navigate other parts of the house. New sounds are still a little scary but she is becoming desensitized to normal noises in the house. She is crate trained and will seek her crate if she is a little nervous or ready for a break. She loves people, kids, and cuddles. True to her Husky genes, she can be quite independent. As a puppy, she is still learning her manners (i.e. to not jump, stay off the couch, food on the counter is not yours, shoes are not toys) but is improving with all of these. She has done well with baths and is becoming more tolerant with nail grinding.

Iris is smart, alert and quiet. So far she has not been a barker even though our other dogs love to bark at others walking down the street. She is working to become fully potty trained and learning how to ask to go outside. She is learning new words and commands, like, “no,” “sit,” “potty,” “outside,” and “walk.” She’s eager to please and very motivated by treats and positive reinforcement. Currently, she is a little over 40 lbs but hopefully will fill out some more.

We’ll miss her dearly but Iris is ready to find her forever home.
