Iris's Story

Iris came to the shelter on 9-30-25 as a stray and is about 3 years old.

Iris is a medium energy dog, who loves to go for walks and loves to play fetch. She knows how to sit, give you her paw, stay and will come when you call her.
She sits nice to have her winter jacket put on before going outside and sits nice just to be brushed.

Once you play with her, she becomes your best bud. She LOVES the red jolly ball and also loves wobbler kong toys. She will play fetch forever. Once you tell her it's time for a break though, she can switch to being a very chill dog when it's time to settle.

She seemed to like cats during her temperament test but would prefer a home with no other dogs.

Call the shelter today to meet her!

Montgomery County SPCA's Adoption Policy
At the Montgomery County SPCA, we are dedicated to finding responsible, forever homes for all the pets in our care. To that end, we have created a thorough adoption process which helps us achieve this goal. This process includes a check of veterinary history records on any pets you currently have, and a home visit. If you rent your home, we require written proof (letter or lease) from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. We undertake this kind of thorough review to ensure that animals who have already been discarded at least once will never have to experience this again.
