But today, he’s thriving.<br/><br/>Simón was rescued in September 2025 after being hit by a car completely paralyzed, a case that didn’t look promising.<br/><br/>But we gave him a chance.<br/>And Simón decided to fight.<br/><br/>Little by little, he came back.<br/>First movement.<br/>Then standing.<br/>Then walking.<br/><br/>Today, Simón is mobile, strong, and living a full, happy life.<br/><br/>He still needs help expressing his bladder (about 4–5 times a day), but don’t let that intimidate you, it’s honestly easier than multiple daily walks, and Simón makes it easy. He knows his routine and will come to you when it’s time.<br/><br/>He does have the urge to go and tries on his own, so we’re hopeful his nerve function will continue improving with time.<br/><br/>Simón is, without exaggeration, one of the smartest dogs we’ve ever had. He has the mind of a herding dog, always aware, always moving with you, always connected. A true velcro dog.<br/><br/>He will follow you everywhere. Bathroom included. Shower included too because yes, he loves bath time and will walk right in like it’s a spa appointment.<br/><br/>He has a beautiful reddish, slightly long coat and a smile he never lost, even in his hardest moments. <br/><br/>Energy wise, he’s perfectly balanced. He enjoys playtime (especially with his favorite activity, annoying the house cat), but also settles nicely and just wants to be near his person.<br/><br/>Simón is about 3 years old, 25lbs, fully vetted, crate trained, and also does well roaming freely in a home. He gets along with dogs, cats, and people. No special medications needed, just a good dry food diet to keep his tummy healthy.<br/><br/>He’s not a “perfect” dog on paper.<br/>But he is something better, resilient, brilliant, and deeply connected to the people he loves.<br/><br/>Simón didn’t give up on himself.<br/>We didn’t give up on him.<br/><br/>Now we’re looking for someone who won’t either.
