Indigo 's Story
Beautiful little Indigo is one of a family of four stray dogs picked up on the streets of Chicago in early January. At the shelter she was scared and overwhelmed —shut down, shaking, and needing to be carried to the car for her freedom ride. But once she arrived in foster, her true personality began to shine almost immediately.
In less than a day, Indigo started blossoming into a smart, curious, Velcro pup who loves being near her people and other animals. Everything was brand new to her—from stairs to leash walking—but she has been picking things up remarkably quickly. We estimate she’s around 7–8 months old.

Indigo is very food-motivated and takes treats gently, making training a joy. She absolutely loves other dogs and has fantastic canine manners. Being fostered with two confident adult shepherds has helped her learn the ways of the world, and she would thrive in a multi-dog home, especially with a friendly, confident canine companion to continue building her confidence.

Her foster home also includes two dog-savvy cats, and Indigo has done great with them—showing mild curiosity but easily redirecting. She’s been almost perfect with housebreaking when kept on a schedule, and she does well crated overnight, though she prefers sleeping near other dogs rather than alone.

Indigo has plenty of happy puppy energy and loves jumping little obstacle courses set up by her foster human sister—she might be a fun future agility dog! She’ll need a good outlet for that energy, but once she’s had a chance to get her wiggles out, she settles nicely and is content to just hang out.

Her only vice so far is classic puppy teething—she’s impressively stealthy when it comes to snagging a shoe or anything else chewable! She’s been around children ages 8 and up and is relatively calm with them. In general, Indigo is shy meeting new people at first but has no real issues with anyone and warms up with consistency.

Indigo thrives on routine, patience, and positive reinforcement. She’s a quick learner and truly an absolute joy of a pup who will make a wonderful companion in the right home.
