Hydro is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.
Meet Hydro!
Hydro is an adorable 3 year old pitbull mix. He has the most beautiful brindle coat and the cutest ears around! One of them stands straight up, while the other just flops over. Hydro currently weighs 55 pounds and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to find a family to call his own!
Hydro is dog friendly! He has met many dogs and has loved everyone he's met. He also loves running and playing with the neighbors dogs through the fence. He loves playing with toys in the backyard. He'll run and fetch them, but doesn't always bring them back to you. He will sit and wait for you to throw the toys for him. He does show interest in other dogs when out on walks and will pull to try and go meet them. This is something that his foster family is working with him on. He does the same with people and bicycles.
He is a strong boy so you need a firm hold on him. He can walk well on the leash until he sees something that interests him - people, other dogs, ducks, etc. then he wants to get to them. If you keep him on a short leash he will walk calmly beside you.
Hydro previously lived with teenage kids in his last home and he did great with them. Due to his energy level, we would suggest a home with older kids. He has not encountered any cats yet, so we're not sure how he would act.
Hydro is fully potty trained and does not potty inside the home. Hydro is also crate trained! He stays in his crate without making a peep while his foster family is away from the home. They will watch him through the pet cam and he just naps until they get back home.
He tends to “graze” at his food during the day - I have not seen him eat it all as soon as it is put down to him. He takes treats gently, but is not really treat motivated.
He has a tendency to get very excited and jump up on new people when he meets them. We are working with him on this to discourage this behavior.
Hydro's ideal home is someone with a big yard for him to run and play in. He is on the energetic side, so he would also love an active family or a family with a playful doggie friend that he can run and play with! He likes to think he is a lapdog and wants to snuggle.
Hydro is always smiling and just happy to be alive!
