Husker's Story

Husker is a five-year-old boy seeking a permanent, loving home. He is potty trained and kennel trained. He is good around other quiet and well-behaved dogs but would be fine as an only dog as well. He is an old soul for his age and prefers an environment that is quiet. No kids for him would be his preference, he gets quite vocal about commotion, so shared wall living spaces are not for him. He does love to be on a lap but will lay on a blanket nearby if one is not available. If you have a low key and quiet home and could offer up a space for a friend, this guy might just be for you. Let us know and we will arrange for you to meet him.

All our dogs are current on vaccinations which include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella. They are spayed and or neutered, have been fecal tested and heartworm tested, and had a dental cleaning if necessary. They are all on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as needed in rescue. They all will have a microchip that will be registered in the adopter's name and is good for a lifetime with no additional fees.

The adoption process is an application, a vet reference, a home inspection, and a lifetime contract. The requested adoption donation for all our dogs is $400.

We do not REQUIRE a fenced in yard (some dogs do not require a fence, if they can walk well on harness and leash. This is decided by what is best for each dog individually.)

We are willing to adopt to out-of-state applicants, but you must travel to the foster home location of your dog which is in Omaha or within a 90-minute drive from the Omaha area to meet and travel home with your dog. We do not transport or ship dogs.

If you are interested in adding this beautiful baby to your loving family, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application at http://www.nebraskadachshundrescue.org/adoptapp.htm
The adoption fee is $400.
