Hummer's Story

Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Hummer.

Hummer is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.

Meet Hummer!

Hummer is estimated to be about 3-4 years old and a male German Shepherd mix. Hummer is pint sized and only weighs 35 pounds. He's fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to steal your heart!

Hummer was found as a stray in a rural part of Texas that's known for stray and dumped dogs. He was hiding in the bushes when a kind woman went out to feed the strays in the area. He quickly came running and was so happy to see her. A group of other dogs charged at him and he jumped into her car. She said he was licking her and giving her kisses the entire car ride back to her house. Thankfully, she reached out to us for help and he's now in a loving foster home and is ready for his forever home.

Hummer is dog friendly! We would say that he has a medium energy level. He likes to go for walks and is playful, but he also enjoys relaxing. He's not really big into playing with other dogs, but will happily sunbathe and enjoy their company.
On walks, he doesn't pay attention to other dogs either. He'll sniff, but then he goes on about his day.

Hummer has met cats and he's very curious about them. While he was never aggressive, we'd suggest a home without cats.

Hummer is kid friendly and has been around children ages 5 and older. He really enjoys the company of people of all ages and sizes. He can be a bit playful, so we'd suggest a home / family who is mindful of this.

Hummer walks great on a leash! He will walk calmly by my side.

Hummer is fully potty trained and crate trained. His foster leaves him in a bedroom when she's away from the home for work or errands and he does well with this.

Here's a small blurb about Hummer from his foster mom:
Hummer - My fun-size German shepherd! Hummer is such a loving dog. He LOVES his people and is very smart. He picks up on commands so fast and quickly learned "sit" and "stay" with me. He's such a sweetheart and will roll over for belly rubs and to be petted. He has the sweetest disposition around all people. I haven't noticed any negative behaviors from him. He's probably one of the best dogs I've had the pleasure of fostering. He's great with meeting strangers. I can't emphasize enough how much he loves people! He's a very chill dog and enjoys being outside. He would love a yard or an active family who will take him on adventures. He enjoys lounging around on the couch too, so I hope you like cuddles! He loves going places and is so well behaved out in public. He has lots of love to give and is SO grateful to have been rescued. You can truly feel the love and appreciation from him. He loves car rides and getting to go on adventures. Can you be his forever adventure buddy?

Interested in learning more about Hummer or applying to adopt him?
