HUGO's Story
MEET HUGO….a petite, sweet, 7 lb, 6-7 yr old, apricot colored Toy Poodle, who hailed from the Moreno Valley Shelter. How he ended up there is anyone’s guess, but he was a total mess when he came to us. His poor behind was matted with feces and he was in horrible pain. Once groomed, he bounced out of his shell and saw a whole new world in front of him that he is still getting to know.

Shortly after Hugo arrived at LHH he came down with an awful upper respiratory infection — coughing and generally feeling lousy. Poor thing is so small, it really knocked him out and he has been sleeping a lot. But…when he wants attention or to cuddle, he will let you know! He noses you with his muzzle and says “okay, it’s time for a belly rub” or “I want your attention now.” He can be very independent but as he starts feeling better, he engages more. He LOVES his walks and meeting new dogs and people — which we have had to curtail while he has been under the weather. However, Hugo still walks at a quick pace and is curious about the world around him!! Other than having a cold, he is very healthy and we are watching him blossom more and more daily!

The ideal home for Hugo will be one where he gets attention and engagement but also has his independence. He is tiny and can go with you everywhere — he’s good in the car and wherever you take him. He would be happy in an active, senior home, as long as he gets his walks!! We are still getting to know him but know that he will make someone’s home a happy one!
