Hugh's Story

Meet Hugh! One of our most handsome puppers!

Hugh is the kind of pup who wins hearts everywhere he goes! Gentle, sweet, and always affectionate! He is happiest when he is around people or other dogs. He is wonderfully dog-, cat- and kid-friendly. Since he's more of a follower than a leader, he gets along easily with everyone! Mr. Social Butterfly!

Hugh has a playful personality—he loves having something to chew on (ALL the time), ice cubes, splashing in water, and carrying his toys around. He also enjoys his walks but likes to take them slow, stopping to admire the flowers, greenery, and the world around him.

Hugh makes a great +1 for adventures! This adventurous boy loves to go to the forest preserve with his foster family and canine friends. You will catch him wading in the lake, sniffing everything, or running alongside a group of dogs.

At home, Hugh is both independent and cuddly. He will nap peacefully on the cool floor or stretch out on the couch with a bone, but when morning comes, he'll be right there to cuddle up by your side. He's incredibly gentle when taking treats from your hand, showing just how tender-hearted he truly is.

And as if his personality wasn't enough, Hugh has a striking mask across his face that makes him look just like Batman—your very own superhero sidekick!

If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion who finds joy in life's simple pleasures and will always be by your side, Hugh is waiting for you?

Hugh is almost 1.5 years old (born approximately in April or May 2025), border collie /cattle dog / husky mix. He is dog, kid, and cat friendly! He is also crate trained, house broken, and knows his basic commands!

If you're interested in fostering or adopting Hugh, please complete an adoption application online at https://laststoprescue.com/adoption-app/

--------------------- About our process and fees

Our application: https://laststoprescue.com/adoption-app/
If you're interested in donating, sponsoring or volunteering please visit us at www.LastStopRescue.com or follow us on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/Laststoprescue.il!

We treat these dogs as individuals with needs and to that end all of our dogs will have been in fosters no less than two weeks, they will have at least started training if not attend weekly classes and get daily training at home with the fosters!

Which means our longest residents will be the best trained, as long as they're with us we're going to keep socializing and working through any issues they may have.

When you adopt from us you will have a very clear picture of the dog you're meeting and on going support!

Our Fees are as follows:
Senior dogs over 7 are $450
Adult dogs are $650
Puppies under 1 year are $800
Specific breeds are $900

With each adoption you will be...
1. Given up to four hours of free training (from the foster and coordinator),
a. Some dogs require additional free training hours before they can go home.
2. Full medical report of all findings,
3. All of the supplies needed for a new dog as we attain these for the care of each dog,
4. A full run down on their behavioral status, where they started, where they are and how far is left to go. This will be detailed in a training plan from us about what they can or cannot handle well and it will be discussed as much as needed!
5. On going support post adoption as long as needed!
We fully vet all of our dogs which is reflected in our adoption fee. On average we will pay about 600 dollars in medical per dog. Every dog gets a full blood panel, fecal/urine check, heartworm & tick panel and treatment if required, spayed/neutered, all shots and boosters, along with anything specific to their needs.
