Huck's Story
This handsome boy is safe, sound, and officially out of the shelter system—he is no longer at risk and is now thriving in a loving foster home in Texas. After weeks of uncertainty, Huck finally has the stability and care he deserves while he waits for his forever family.

Huck is believed to be around 5–5.5 months old and currently weighs about 30 lbs. We expect he’ll grow to at least 50 lbs once fully grown, though it’s hard to know for sure. Without a DNA test, we can’t confirm his breed, but his medical records list him as an Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) mix.

His foster family describes him as the world’s most lovable “lap dog”—who just happens to be a bit too big for anyone’s lap. Huck adores people and will happily flop into your arms (or onto your couch!) just to soak up love and attention. If he could be carried around in a baby sling, he’d probably be the happiest pup alive. He’s a champion snuggler, already rocking his crate training, and is doing very well with potty training.

While he was a little shy when first meeting new doggy friends, Huck quickly warms up and is always ready to play. He walks beautifully on leash and loves going for strolls with his people. Like any young pup, he still has a few manners to learn, but he balances it all with sweetness, comedy, and a huge heart.

Because Huck is still learning about the world, he’ll need a family that’s patient, committed, and ready to guide him as he grows. He does well with other dogs and would benefit from a confident canine companion, though it’s not required. Huck has had minimal exposure to cats and children, but he has been reported to do well with both. As always, slow and monitored introductions are recommended to set him up for success.

Huck will thrive in a home that offers structure, daily exercise, and plenty of enrichment. A fenced yard is preferred, but not required, and apartments or condos will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Prior experience with active, working-type breeds is strongly preferred, though not required. We do encourage adopters to research the needs of dogs like Huck, as consistency and stimulation will be key in helping him grow into a well-rounded adult.

Adoption Requirements:
-Apartments/condos considered on a case-by-case basis
-Yard preferred
-Experienced or breed-savvy adopter strongly preferred

Health:
Huck is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and on monthly preventatives. He is too young for heartworm testing but is healthy and ready to go home.

Transport Info:
All of our dogs, including Huck, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters after placement. The adoption fee includes transportation. While breed guesses are based on appearance, we encourage adopters to focus on personality and compatibility—not labels.

MA License #479
