Howie's Story

Howie has been in a long-term foster home, but due to a change of circumstances, we are looking for a new adoptive or foster home for him. Howie has EPI - Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.

Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency occurs when the pancreas does not release enough digestive enzymes. As a result, food is not digested properly, and the body doesn’t receive the nutrition it needs.

Howie's EPI is under control and not difficult at all to manage.

From his current foster mom:

Howie is really an awesome dog. He is very intelligent and happy. He is content to sit on the sofa most days but does enjoy playtime in the yard. Howie is also a huge fan of his toys! He will usually pick one and play with that toy most of the day. While he enjoys playing with his current housemates, Howie would do best in a home with no small animals or young children.

Howie's EPI has become extremely easy to manage. We currently feed him Pure Balance Grain Free Salmon from Walmart, which he loves. The Enzyme powder simply needs to be mixed with the food with tepid water and allowed to soak for 20-30 minutes. He has been doing amazingly well with this easy process.

This handsome boy is about 4 years old. If you think Howie would be a good fit in your home, please fill out an application here:

http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/dogs/

If you can give Howie an indoor forever
home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/

We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks.

Thank you for your interest in saving the life of a dog.
