HOWIE's Story
Howie is the product of two young “adults” who wanted to play “house” as boyfriend and girlfriend but when the going got tough, the dating stop, both “adults” ran back to their parents instead of standing on their own two feet, and the four legged kids were left homeless, unless you consider the end of a chain in a backyard to be “home.” Howie came into our care after at being contacted by six different people acquainted with his previous owner despite the rescue’s foster homes being beyond capacity because the frigid December weather was upon us and we were afraid he would freeze to death with no shelter on the end of a chain in a back yard while his previous “dad” watched him from inside a warm dry house. Howie definitely has some PTSD from being tossed around and abandoned but he’s working hard how to be a good dog and routine is definitely the key. Since coming into our care, Howie has been neutered, had a cystic mass removed from his foot and has been started on vaccines and preventatives. He loves going for walks and being outside as long as you are out with him. He is crate trained (but not thrilled about it) and seems to have caught on to housebreaking as well. He is not a fan of car rides - does not get sick just very anxious and vocal with whining and panting - but even that is improving. Howie is still working on his interactions with other dogs - being tied to a chain to defend yourself against nature has definitely made him a little standoffish and untrusting with otter dogs so a slow introduction and one with a passive personality would be best. Howie is a yellow lab mix, 70lbs, 3-4years. Adoption fee $300

If you would like to meet HOWIE please complete an application for adoption, copy and paste this link into your browser

https://fs17.formsite.com/adoptionscc/form1/index

Any vaccinations/boosters due after adoption is finalized will be the new owner's responsibility. All animals are current at time of adoption but in some cases a booster series is required or a vaccine cannot be given due to age and cannot be completed prior to adoption

Our adoptable animals come to us from various sources, the most common being from an animal shelter who is unable to handle their physical or mental needs in the shelter setting but believe with the appropriate care, they can become adoptable.
