Hovis's Story
Meet Hovis — a 2-year-old, 30-pound bundle of personality, charm, and just a touch of goofball energy.

Hovis comes fully equipped with the basics: he’s crate trained, potty trained, and professionally certified in being a “snack enthusiast” (his snack dealer is his favorite person, no questions asked). He’s also a part-time lap dog… emphasis on part-time because he may forget he’s 30 pounds.

He’s dog-friendly and enjoys a good play session with his canine friends (cats are still a mystery to him). When it comes to his people, Hovis doesn’t believe in personal space — expect full-contact snuggles, surprise kisses, and a very enthusiastic welcome every time you walk in the door.

Hovis loves being outside and would absolutely enjoy a fenced yard, but he’s flexible as long as he gets his daily adventures. He’s still polishing his leash skills, especially when flying solo, but does great when he has a dog buddy to show him the ropes.

He may take a minute to warm up to new people, but once you’re in his circle, you’re in for life. No take-backs. No refunds.

Hovis is good with kids but would do best with those 8 and up — mainly because he doesn’t always remember his size when he’s excited. Speaking of enthusiasm, he is a serious toy chewer, so bring on the tough toys… the tougher, the better.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, slightly ridiculous best friend who will keep you laughing and loved, Hovis might just be your guy.

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.

Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.

Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.

Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
