Hoss's Story
Boxer Rescue is trying to help a loving, older Boxer mix find a new and loving home. We want you to meet Hoss, a senior Boxer mix located in the Isle of Wight, VA. Animal Shelter 757-365-6318. He is a wonderful older guy who still loves to play. He has done well at the shelter with dogs, cats, and kids. He loves interaction with people. This is a rural shelter with no foot traffic and unfortunately Hoss has had no interest from the few people coming in because of his age. Hoss was surrendered by the person who had him his whole life and is housetrained. He struggled with depression when he first arrived at the shelter but is doing better now with the attention he receives from the staff. He is definitely loved by staff and volunteers. He is 9 beautiful years old, 56 lbs., up to date on vaccines, not neutered, tested heartworm negative, and has what appears to be a flea allergy, which the shelter is treating with preventatives. He knows some basic commands and is smart. He would make a wonderful companion for someone
Boxer Rescue will help with neuter costs if you adopt Hoss. We can't imagine how Hoss has felt losing his home and want him to have a happy ending.
--
The sun setting is just as beautiful as the sun rising....consider adopting a senior pet.
--
Boxer Rescue has a heartwarming book called The Shelter Dog by Christine Davis. It very well could be the story of Hoss. The Shelter Dog is a story where Hero is an Angel Dog, who wants to go back to earth to experience the joy of being adopted. After all, he thought, what could be better than having a very special person choose you – out of all the other dogs – to come home and live with them? As Hero is about to find out, things don’t always turn out the way you plan. Sometimes they turn out better!

We are hoping that Hoss has a happy ending, too. If you'd like Boxer Rescue to send a copy of this book to you, please contact BoxerRescue@cox.net. for details.
