Hopper's Story

Hopper came to us as a stray, he spent the month of July lurking around in the woods outside of Matthews and sneaking cat food from peoples porches. The second he was no longer on the run and in survival mode, he was the absolute sweetest boy! He lives for his person. He wants to be everywhere you are. He loves to snuggle and follows you all over the house like a little shadow. Thats a pretty common trait in Heelers. Hopper loves everyone hes met so far here. Even the little boy in his foster home who is 7 but very dog savvy. He could likely live with a home with bigger kids that understand dogs well. He loves to run around with his human foster brother while he plays and just be with his boy. He can live with some cats, he chases scardy cats but ignores confident cats that arent scared of dogs. Hes done fine with other dogs in his foster home and even doggy daycare! He is a Heeler and tries to herd other dogs sometimes depending on the dog. Some dogs he loves to play with. Some dogs he completely ignores. hes a little on the dominant side and a highly reactive dog would not be a good fit for him. All in all he is much more of a people person than an animal lover. He can co-exist fine but really he just wants his person. He knows a few basic commands. He is potty trained to a dog door. He is crate trained but he barks in his crate some. When it is time to go to bed or go to his crate, he runs right in with no issues. He will bark and whine if he needs to potty while hes in his crate. He also barks when its let out time (mornings, first getting home) He enjoys playing with toys and will play fetch. He goes to the door when he needs to potty if the doggy door is locked. Hes all around a super good boy! He does jump up sometimes when he is excited as he just wants attention all the time. He will bark at the door when someone knocks or even walks in, but minds when told to settle. Hes not a super high energy dog like many Heelers. Hes happy to go on adventures but fine lounging around watching tv too. He rides great in the car. He is seriously such a good boy but does have some of the Heeler tendencies. For that we will be requiring Heeler experienced dog owners only no exceptions. We want his next home to stick! He is fully vetted $250 adoption fee. You can fill out an application on our website!
