Hootie's Story

Hootie packs a lot of personality into his 35 pounds of joyful energy. He's about 2 years old and is just hankering to play and have a good time.<br/><br/>Hootie is smart as a whip and needs plenty of activity to keep him interested. He is very people oriented and wants to be where the action is. Here at the shelter Hootie is allowed to play outside the exercise kennels because he stays right by our sides, and comes to us when called. If you want an intelligent, athletic, focused, loyal friend who's easy to pack along on trips and adventures, Hootie is your man. <br/><br/>Thank you for considering Hootie and for supporting our small, rural animal shelter. Adopting save lives! Our dogs and cats are among the best you will find anywhere. <br/><br/>The Powell County Animal Shelter is at 121 Echo Hollow Road, Clay City, KY. Powell County Animal Shelter 's Adoption Policy
We have an application form that gives us information about potential adopters' homes and family situations. This helps us to determine if an animal will be safe in their new environment, and if the new owner would be willing and financially able to care for a new pet and to commit to keeping it for the span of its natural life. In addition to logistical and practical questions, we encourage potential owners to think about how they will live daily with a new pet, and to understand what a lifelong commitment to a pet means.
