Honor's Story
Honor is a spunky and energetic 25 lb Shepherd mix! First arriving on the scene all the way back in May 2025, we first met her as a petite tag-along with her 60 lb white Shepherd mom, Promise. While her mom was a social extrovert, it was clear that while sweet, Honor had been raised on the street away from human influence. All her social skills were invested into other dogs, and she's never found a canine she couldn't befriend.

Because of her shyness, it took her quite some time to find an adopter. Eventually, someone came and took a chance on her. Unfortunately, some months later, we received a message from another rescue in the area - Honor had been surrendered there with her folder of records and a small monetary donation; her adopter had lost their housing and was no longer to care for her. Sadly, we welcomed her back.

Upon her return, we were immediately shocked - gone was the avoidant young pup who had avoided all human contact. This adolescent young dog was now immediately friendly with her previous caregivers and warmed up much more rapidly to new humans in her life. She was adopted shortly after by an older couple.

And that leads us to today. Once again, to absolutely zero fault of hers, Honor has come back to FFAA. Her adopters were facing some health changes, and Honor's energy level was just a bit too high for them to cope with. Although small, she is still a healthy and active Shepherd mix, and she's just barely a year old.

Per her most recent adopters, Honor, or Lady as she's been called for the past 4 months, is housebroken, friendly with new people, great with older teens, has lived with other dogs, rides well in the car, and is just starting to be crate trained as well.

She was described as a highly active player outside but a total couch potato inside. She's the kind of dog that prefers to always be at your side. Her previous adopters say that her favorite hobbies are running outside and playing ball.

Honor's small size, sweet nature, the deep connections she is able to make with her people, and her higher energy level make her the ideal pet for a younger family who prefers to stay active with their pets. She's social without being pushy - as office dog, she's content to cuddle up on the couch and sleep away the hours (unless you leave the room; then she's immediately missing you).
