Honey's Story

Meet Honey — The Sweetest Little House Hippo!

Honey is an approximately 5-year-old, 40-pound Staffie mix who may be compact in size, but she has a BIG head, an even bigger heart, and a personality that fills the whole room! This sweet girl was found as a stray and rescued just in time from the euthanasia list. Now she’s ready for the forever family she should have had all along.

Honey is an absolute sweetheart who loves everyone she meets. She adores her people and is happiest when she can simply be by your side. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion who wants to be part of everything you do, Honey is your girl!

She is house trained, crate trained, non-destructive, and knows how to use a doggy door. She listens well, is very treat motivated, and has no problem with jumping or mouthing. She’s a wonderfully well-mannered housemate and settles nicely into a routine.

Honey is also a fantastic dog companion! She currently lives with six other dogs—both males and females—and gets along great with everyone. She can be a little enthusiastic when meeting a new dog because she is SO excited to make friends, but she settles down quickly and does wonderfully once introductions are over.

And then there are the toys.

Honey LOVES toys. She almost always has one in her mouth as she happily walks around the house. Bones are another favorite. She will grab her prized bones and carry them outside, where she carefully creates her own little bone-hoarding pile away from all the other dogs. Because apparently every good house hippo needs a treasure collection.

Honey also does great in the car and loves going places with her people. She has even become the official team mascot at weekly softball games, where she gets to enjoy being out and about with her favorite humans.

Despite her short legs and big Staffie head, Honey has the heart of a giant. She is affectionate, silly, loyal, playful, and incredibly sweet. She doesn’t need anything fancy—just a family who will love her, include her, give her plenty of toys and bones, and let her be the adorable little shadow she was meant to be.

Honey is a super sweet house hippo looking for her forever home.

If you’re looking for a loving, easygoing companion who will happily carry a toy around the house, cuddle with you, ride in the car, cheer you on at softball, and follow you wherever you go...

Honey is waiting for you.

Honey is currently waiting in Texas for a family to pick her so she can pack her bags and hop on the next transport. The rescue covers transport costs and connects you with the foster to learn more about Honey and do a virtual meet and greet.

If interested, submit an application today through this link: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/RADD/Dog?fbclid=IwY2xjawUaWkxwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMUFOZ1NwMUN3eXFycHlOWjZzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeC0debbYHW03SVtVIkEk_Q3Moj2Q40C9enekxuRBaOd5f0faJ_JX-LV32Wec_aem_4pn27NeuFuAMM78AoFW78Q
