Honey's Story

Story of an abandoned dog:

This story is not only mine but also of thousands of abandoned dogs and puppies. I know humans have no time for long stories, but maybe, just maybe, someone might step forward and give me a second chance at a beautiful life.

Hi, my name is Honey and this is my story to tell. I am an approx 4 year old Boxer Staffie mix who sadly was betrayed by my owner. Within days of being spayed, I was abandoned at the side of a road far from anything remotely familiar to me. As I looked around I had no idea where I was, why I was there and what to do. Should I just sit and wait for my owner to return? Surely it was a total mistake and they would be coming back for me any minute now. However after waiting for hours and hours I knew I needed to find shelter for the night and decided I would come back to this exact spot at the break of dawn so when my owner returned for me, I would be right here waiting.

I started walking and luckily found a home under construction and very carefully made my way to the second story and tucked myself away for the night in a dark corner. By morning when the workers showed up I kept quiet hoping no one would see me. I am not certain how many days I stayed in that corner afraid to move but I know it was a long time as my tummy began to hurt and I was very thirsty. When I was about to give up all hope, I heard a soft voice asking me who I was, where did I come from and why I was there ? I thought is was the voice of an angel but actually it was the voice of a “rescue” person. She immediately brought me food, water and promised me she would do whatever she could to help me find a family of my very own who will love and cherish me forever. A family that I can build new happy memories with and forget about the sadness of being left and forgotten.

Could you possibly be that person? I am a very good girl and hoping upon hope that someone out there would be willing to open their home and heart to me. I promise I will be a good girl, and repay your kindness a thousand times over. All I need is a second chance at life and happiness.

Sweet Honey has been spayed, microchipped, and received a clean bill of health from our vet. She is also a very smart girl who is house trained and loves people. We think she would be a perfect family companion for kids 5+ as long as they know how to respect doggy boundaries. Honey hasn't been cat tested, but she does love other dogs and would enjoy having a doggy playmate too. She weighs @ 50lbs and will not get any larger.

Honey's adoption fees is $275. If interested, please reach out to Brittany at Brittany.pacne@gmail.com and she will break down the adoption process for you and send you an application link!

*Paws & Claws New England, a/k/a Paws and Claws Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization made up of volunteers and fosters who devote their time and love to help save homeless dogs and cats.
