Honey Cake (Honey)'s Story
Honey is a beautiful, 2 year old, 34 pound German Shepherd/Husky mix. She is current on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Honey is also potty and kennel trained.

Honey has already shown the world how resilent she is. She arrived at the Bell County Shelter as a stray with a severely injured leg. Thanks to her many supporters, Honey received the life changing leg amputation she needed. Honey, now a tripod, has recovered completely and doesn't let having 3 legs slow her down at all. This sweet girl loves walks, hikes, and being right in the middle of the action. She would thrive with an active family who can keep up with her fun loving, adventurous spirit. Honey has been working on basic commands and leash training. She's made wonderful progress, but she'll need a patient family who is willing to continue helping her learn and grow.

Honey does not do well with small animals and should not go to a home with cats, small dogs, chickens, or other small pets. She will be fine as an only dog or with a dog her own size, with a slow and careful introduction. Honey is affectionate, playful, smart, and full of personality. She has overcome so much. Now, all she needs is someone willing to see what a truly special girl she is.

Honey is heartworm positive and is being treated with the slow kill method. She has no symptoms. The treatment goes with her when she's adopted until she tests negative for heartworms. Treatment must be done at Animal Medical Care in Temple to be covered by APAC dog rescue.

If you're looking for an affectionate, playful, active companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Honey Cake may be your perfect match. Applications are being taken at myhappytail.org. Her adoption fee is $165.00.
