Honey Bee's Story
Meet Honey Bee

Estimated DOB: 01/14/2026

Honey Bee came to IPR at only about four months old, already carrying around more baggage than any puppy should have to.

She arrived with a badly broken front leg that had been left untreated long enough to heal incorrectly. Unfortunately, by the time she was safe with us, there was no way to repair it. The best option to give her a happy, pain-free life was amputation.

Honey Bee apparently missed the meeting where someone explained that losing a leg was supposed to slow her down.

Because this girl has places to be.

Honey Bee bounced back beautifully and is now a happy, spunky little tripod with approximately four legs' worth of energy. She runs, plays, explores, wrestles with her dog friends and lives her life exactly the way a puppy should.

She's also ridiculously smart.

Honey Bee knows sit, come and leave it, and she's extremely food motivated, which makes training pretty easy. The problem is that sometimes she decides to continue the lesson without you.

Her foster once put her treats away in a cabinet while Honey Bee watched. The next day, Honey Bee remembered exactly where they were, opened the cabinet herself and helped herself to the entire bag.

So there's that.

Honey Bee is house trained, crate trained, good with dogs of all sizes, good with cats and has done well with kids of all ages. She absolutely LOVES other dogs and would be thrilled to have a playful canine sibling who can keep up with her.

She's also a big fan of plush toys. We use the word "fan" loosely because her preferred method of appreciation is ripping them apart as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Honey Bee is still a young, active girl, so she's looking for a family that wants to do things with her. She needs exercise, playtime, continued training and ways to keep that busy little brain occupied. Another playful dog would be a huge bonus.

And while Honey Bee happens to be a tripod, that really isn't the most interesting thing about her.

She's smart. She's goofy. She's affectionate. She's curious. She's adventurous. She's a professional stuffy murderer and an amateur cabinet burglar. She's the kind of dog who throws herself into life at full speed and figures out the logistics afterward.

Honey Bee already survived the hardest part of her story.

Now she needs the good part.

A family. A dog buddy. A pile of toys to destroy. A lifetime of adventures.

And preferably treats stored somewhere with a lock.

Apply to adopt Honey Bee at rescueapittie.org.
