Meet Honey

Honey 2-year-old female yellow Lab 61-lbs Spayed

Background.
Honey and her younger pals (Hazel, Callie, and Jemma) just joined the Lab Rescue program from the Chico shelter where they'd spent the last nine months. They were "on hold" as issues with their prior owners worked their way thru the judicial system. Now that the legal beagles have finished their work, Honey and the others are free to find their new forever home.

What the shelter said about Honey.
She is the confident one. Honey walks well on leash, does do some pulling but that has improved. She has done well with engaging and meeting new people. Loves fetch. Has done well with handling and doesn’t react when eating other than just trying to continue to eat, stays soft and loose the whole time. We will often play the "find it" game for enrichment, and we are able to do it with Jemma and Honey together with no issues they just go search for it.

What Honey's foster says.
"Honey" is the perfect name for this young girl, a bright golden yellow lab with a lot of love and enthusiasm to share. She has moved into our home with ease, getting along well with our 8-year-old Lab and overjoyed to be a part of the daily activities around the house, or just lounging in the sun in the yard. She is pretty well housetrained and sleeping through the night quietly in her crate. Other than her interest in sitting on the couch, Honey has no real vices to speak of. Very treat motivated, she knows Come and Sit and will surely learn other skills quickly. She is quite wiggly and does jump up a bit when excited and eats her meals with great haste, so we have gotten her a puzzle bowl to slow her down a bit. Honey's leash walking prowess will take some time, but right now she does not pull as she is so busy weaving back and forth sniffing everything in her new neighborhood.

An excellent retriever, Honey will likely be a great swimmer once she discovers water. Honey still has a lot to learn about the outside world, so we are introducing her to new people and other dogs at the park as if everything is for the first time. She is tentative and a bit submissive about meeting new people and dogs right now, but all these meetings have gone well. Her off leash recall is very good and she is quite attentive to her new pack. Every day is a new adventure for Honey and she is excited to be a part of it. She will be thrilled to be with a new family who want to take her on their adventures and play a lot of fetch. Probably best for a family with older kids with her jumpy, bouncy energy.

What Honey's Rescue Rep says.
Ain't no fructose corn syrup pup here. This is one pure organic high energy young dog. Ready for action -- lots of action. Honey did well at the shelter when seeing/meeting cats -- didn't really care. Great with other dogs once she meets them. Best for families with big dog experience. Will need multiple exercise sessions each day. Not a wall flower. An outstanding adventure dog for hiking, camping, backpacking, canoeing, surfing, hang-gliding, and space travel. Buckle up!

Medical.
Honey is healthy. Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations.
