Honey's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Honey is a beautiful 5 year-old Hound mix girl who weighs just under 50 pounds. Honey is completely housebroken and crate trained! She sleeps in her dog bed in her fosters bedroom since she no longer needs to be crated at night. But if she needs to be crated, she willingly goes into her crate.

Honey's activity level is low to moderate. She enjoys her walks but needs to be walked when there are not many dogs to encounter along the way. She can be dog reactive and needs an experienced dog owner. She has learned many basic commands. We are working with a trainer to further her training and reduce her reactivity and she is doing great! She has learned so much to help her be the best dog possible.

Honey lets you know when there are others around. She will bark to alert her human, so she would not be a good fit in an apartment or other multifamily homes where there would be noise from adjacent houses.

Honey is used to having a person around the majority of the time. So if her new humans were home most of the time, she will be happy. She is a cuddle-bug who loves to hang with her human! She prefers hanging with her humans and wants to be wherever her humans are!

Honey is friendly but cautious and first-time meetings require treats. If there are children in the home, they should be older teenage children who have respect for animals. She should be the only dog in the house but would be fine with a cat sibling.

When Honey trusts you, she will lay on her back for belly rubs. Honey likes to play with toys. She loves to give her paw to you to show affection. She loves to hang with her human and thrives on attention! Honey is a truly special pup! Can you come and meet Honey so she can give you her paw!!

We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Raleigh/Cary NC. For the right fit for Honey, we will consider applicants who live a bit further. Please consider giving Honey the home she deserves.

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:

Honey was found as a stray and taken to a NC shelter. BFPA took in Honey and shortly after found out she was pregnant. She gave birth to 10 puppies. Honey took great care of her puppies who have all been adopted. Now it is Honeys turn to find her forever home.
