Honey's Story

Honey is sweet, outgoing, energetic, a bit mischievous, incredibly smart, and gets along with everyone. She is nine months old and we think she is a mix of either Husky/terrier/chihuahua OR Shiba/terrier/chihuahua.

Honey is up-to-date on standard vaccinations and heartworm & flea/tick preventatives. She is spayed, fully vetted, and will come with a microchip. She is housebroken and crate trained.

*****Honey is NOT at Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center, she is living in a home and is adoptable through the Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control Rescue group - please do not contact the shelter for additional information, because they won't be able to help.

If you have questions after reading Honey's PetFinder Profile, please email friendsofscac@yahoo.com or reach out over PetFinder to introduce yourself if you have questions or if you would like more information.*****

Here's more about Honey's personality...

-She lives in a foster home with several other dogs and cats.

-Needs an adopter who understands the importance of keeping her on a leash until she is ready for more freedom.

-Maybe a 6ft fence in case they don’t keep her on a leash.

-She will dig and try to pick things up off the ground and eat them if left to drag a leash.

-Walks very well with a loose leash because she has never been allowed to pull into her collar.

-Has moderate prey drive and needs an outlet and probably a bit of training before she would be ready to go on walks so she does not learn to pull into the leash when she sees distractions such as squirrels or birds.

-She currently is not walked, she plays games such as flirt pole and tug.

-Honey has been taught “sit” and “stand” on an elevated surface and this is used to trim her nails in her foster home.

-She does great when kenneled and knows that she has to wait until she is calm to come out.

-She also rides well in the car.

-She is pushy even though she comes off submissive sometimes.

Honey is currently living in a foster home.
