Holly and Clara's Story
Holly and Clara have been in a foster home for a year now. They have done well. They have learned to be dogs in a safe space. They love their routine of getting fed on a regular basis and a soft bed to sleep inside a house.

Both girls have stayed bonded. Clara is the most outgoing of the two. She loves be petted and to be kept safe. She loves to play with Holly and run through the fenced in back yard chasing squirrels and sniffing around. She is crate trained and usually is quiet. Clara does not love bigger dogs and she lets them know she wants to be boss. With other dogs her size she is usually great. She will hold her own if they get in her face and her treats. She lets them know she is not happy but then goes about her business.

Holly is the more timid one. We do think she had been mistreated. We are just not sure if it was just from living outside or at the hands of a person. She loves Clara. Clara is her safe space. Holly has started to jump in her foster parents’ laps for more attention. This is a big step. She is not use to asking for attention but working on learning. She wants to get into your face rather than calmly sitting on your lap. But this attention is new to her and she will figure it out. We are just glad she is learning to ask for it. Before Holly would only ask for attention if Holly came to us first.

Both these girls need to have a fenced in back yard. This way they will feel safe. And when Holly gets scared, she tends to find a place to hide. She has gotten so much more comfortable in her foster home but if she goes to a new home, she will need time to adjust. Besides in a fenced in yard, they can be free to just do dog things and roam and smell to their heart content.

If interested in giving Holly and Clara a home together, please complete our application at safeanimalhaven.org.
